Catholic News Agency reports:

“At least 200 people were killed in explosions Easter morning, detonated in churches [and] other sites across Sri Lanka. Hundreds more are reportedly injured. … explosions were detonated during Easter Mass at churches in the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, and in Negombo, a city 20 miles to its north. At the same time, a bomb exploded at a service at the evangelical Zion Church in Batticaolo, on Sri Lanka’s east coast. St. Anthony’s Shrine was the Catholic church targeted in Colombo, and St. Sebastian’s is the Catholic parish in Negombo. …”

“At least seven Coptic Christians were killed and 12 more injured in Egypt when a bus traveling to a desert monastery south of Cairo was ambushed by Islamic militants who opened fire, Egyptian authorities said on Friday. The bus was traveling to the St. Samuel the Confessor monastery November 2, when a number of attackers approached the vehicle from nearby dirt roads and opened fire. …”

The Catholic News Agency (CNA) reports on a new congressional report raising the alarm over a dire, and worsening, human rights situation in mainland China under the domination of the Communist Party of China (CCP):

“A new congressional report slams China’s Communist Party [CCP] for increasing its repressive control over many aspects of Chinese society, and … numerous extreme and unprecedented human rights violations that may constitute crimes against humanity. The report … ‘highlights the dire human rights situation inside China and the continued downward trajectory by virtually China Mapevery measure, since Xi Jinping’ came to power, first as the Communist Party’s general secretary and now as its president. … the report was … by the Congressional-Executive Commission on China … created in 2000 to monitor human rights and rule of law developments in China.  … “

“… at least 44 people were killed and more than 100 more were injured in two Palm Sunday suicide attacks at Coptic Christian churches, each carried out by the ISIS terror group. Sunday’s first blast happened at St. George Church in the Nile Delta town of Tanta, where at least 27 people were killed and 78 others wounded, officials said.
Television footage showed the inside of the church, where a large number of people gathered around what appeared to be lifeless, bloody bodies covered with papers. A second explosion – which Egypt’s Interior Ministry says was caused by a suicide bomber who tried to storm St. Mark’s Cathedral in the coastal city of Alexandria — left at least 17 dead, and 48 injured. The attack came just after Pope Tawadros II — leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria — finished services, but aides told local media that he was unharmed. …”
