"House passes 45-day continuing resolution, sending bill to Senate hours before shutdown" - Washington Examiner - SCW Newswatch 9.30.23

The Washington Examiner reports that the U.S. House of Representatives, on Saturday afternoon, managed to pass, by overwhelming bipartisan consensus, a continuing resolution aimed at keeping the U.S. government funded and operating for 45 days.

However, while Republicans control a majority in the House, the measure was opposed by 90 Republicans, and only opposed by one Democrat.

The measure does not include funding for Ukraine.

The House has sent the legislation to the Senate, which apparently is expected to take up the measure expeditiously, in place of an alternative version.

"In a last-ditch effort ... the House passed a clean continuing resolution to keep the government funded at current spending levels for 45 days ... less than 10 hours before the government is set to shut down. ... [Voting] 335-91 ... [The House] surpass[ed] the two-thirds majority ... needed to advance the legislation on suspension and send it to the Senate for consideration. Should it pass the [Senate] it would then fall to ... Biden to make the final decision and sign it. ..."
