In what sounds like a prophecy of the then-future Messiah, Balaam observes the Israelite nation encamped and speaks of someone yet to come who will be a star advancing from the Israelite nation.
I see him, though not now; I behold him, though not near: A star shall advance from Jacob, and a staff shall rise from Israel.
