“… [Jesus] said …
‘… what comes out of the man, that is what defiles him.
From within the man, from his heart,
come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder,
adultery, greed, malice, deceit,
licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly.
All these evils come from within and they defile.'”
“… people immediately recognized [Jesus]. They scurried about … to bring in the sick … to wherever … He was. … they … begged Him that they might touch only the tassel on His Cloak; and … were healed.”
“… Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. …. [Jesus] approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them. … He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and He drove out many demons …. Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed. …”
“Lord, teach me Your Statutes. …”
“Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick
–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
… they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.”
“Jesus said … ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.’ … He was amazed at their lack of faith.”
“There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years. … He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.’ … Jesus said … ‘Do not be afraid; just have faith.’ … ‘… The child is not dead but asleep.’ … He took the child by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha koum,’ which means, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise!’…”
“… the unclean spirits came out and entered the swine. The herd of about two thousand rushed down a steep bank into the sea, where they were drowned. … Jesus … told him … ‘Go home to your family and announce to them all that the Lord in his pity has done for you.’”
“The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph,
and the Infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this,
they made known the message
that had been told them about this Child.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things,
reflecting on them in her heart. …”
“When the days were completed for their purification
according to the law of Moses,
they took Him up to Jerusalem
to present Him to the Lord ….”
