He famously promises that Peter and Andrew will become fishers of men:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As He passed by the Sea of Galilee, [Jesus]\u00a0saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea &#8230;\u00a0Jesus said to them, &#8216;Come after me, and I will make you fishers of \u00a0men.&#8217;\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0they abandoned their nets and followed Him. He &#8230;\u00a0saw James\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0and his brother John\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0mending their nets. &#8230;\u00a0He called them.\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0they left &#8230;\u00a0and followed Him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"gold-soft-2\">RESPONSORIAL PSALM <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/psalms\/25:4\" href=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/psalms\/25:4\" target=\"_blank\">PSALM 25:4-5, 6-7, 8-9<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Teach me Your Ways, O Lord.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"gold-soft-2\">FIRST READING<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/jonah\/3:1\" href=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/jonah\/3:1\" target=\"_blank\">FIRST READING: Jonah 3:1-5, 10<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jonah &#8212; who has finally accepted his Mission from God to preach against the evils of Nineveh &#8212; walks through that Nineveh predicting its destruction.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0people of Nineveh repent, fasting in sackcloth.<\/p>\n<p>God is moved by their repentance to relent in His Wrath.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;\u00a0Jonah &#8230;\u00a0had gone but a single day\u2019s walk announcing, &#8216;Forty days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed,&#8217;\u00a0when the people of Nineveh believed God;\u00a0they proclaimed a fast\u00a0and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth. When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way,\u00a0He repented of the evil that he had threatened to do to them;\u00a0He did not carry it out.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"gold-soft-2\">SECOND READING<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/1corinthians\/7:29\" href=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/1corinthians\/7:29\" target=\"_blank\">SECOND READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 7:29-31<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Saint Paul cautions us to look to the future, to the end of the age.
