At the same time, we await Advent, which has a theme of awaiting and anticipating the arrival of Christ.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/luke\/21:20\">GOSPEL: Luke 21:20-28<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jesus discusses with the Disciples two kinds of end times. He talks of the destruction of Jerusalem, which happens to some extent four decades after His Passion, Death, Resurrection and Ascension. \u00a0Yet He also talks of the end times at the end of the age, when the Second Coming of Christ occurs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;&#8230; There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0on earth nations will be in dismay,\u00a0perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves.\u00a0People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world,\u00a0for the Powers of the Heavens will be shaken.\u00a0And then they will see the Son of Man\u00a0coming in a cloud with Power and Great Glory.\u00a0But when these signs begin to happen,\u00a0stand erect and raise your heads\u00a0because your redemption is at hand.&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>(Of course, we have no way of knowing if the Apocalypse will also feature a destruction of Jerusalem as part of more global turmoil and destruction.)<\/p>\n<p>We are invited to prepare for the future by following and loving Christ, so that no matter what happens we can face, with confidence, the Reign of God and our own Final Judgment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/112714-thanksgiving.cfm\">MASS READINGS: Thanksgiving Day<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Gospel for Thanksgiving Day in the United States includes the story of Jesus healing ten lepers on the road, of whom only a Samaritan leper returns to thank Him.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/luke\/17:11\" href=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/luke\/17:11\" target=\"_blank\">GOSPEL:\u00a0Luke 17:11-19<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;\u00a0Jesus said in reply, &#8216;Ten were cleansed, were they not?\u00a0Where are the other nine?
