you also testify,<br \/>\nbecause you have been with Me from the beginning.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note that Proclaiming the Gospel does not just include conveying ideas or God&#8217;s Law. It\u00a0relates personal experience bearing witness to the facts of what the Disciples have encountered directly.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus cautions the Disciples that they will be persecuted for the Faith, and that\u00a0their persecutors will be so confused that they will think they are doing good when carrying out this evil.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;I have told you this so that you may not fall away.<br \/>\nThey will expel you from the synagogues;<br \/>\n&#8230;\u00a0the hour is coming when everyone who kills you<br \/>\nwill think he is offering worship to God.<br \/>\nThey will do this because they have not known either the Father or me.<br \/>\nI have told you this so that when their hour comes<br \/>\nyou may remember that I told you.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><div style=\"width:50%; float:right;padding-left:15px;\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpbolvw.net\/click-7380954-5434248-1440532932000\" target=\"_top\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.awltovhc.com\/image-7380954-5434248-1440532932000\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a>\r\n<\/div><\/h3>\n<h3>FIRST READING<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/usccb.org\/bible\/acts\/16:11\" target=\"_blank\">FIRST READING: Acts 16:11-15<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Paul and a companion, which the NABRV editors suggest might be Luke himself, go to a secluded place by a river thinking that they will pray. \u00a0Instead, personal encounters with those there result in exchanges about the Faith that result in newly Baptized converts and an invitation to lodgings.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;\u00a0we went outside the city gate along the river<br \/>\nwhere we thought there would be a place of prayer.<br \/>\nWe sat and spoke with the women who had gathered\u00a0&#8230;<br \/>\n&#8230; a woman named Lydia\u00a0&#8230;<br \/>\n&#8230;\u00a0a worshiper of God, listened,<br \/>\n&#8230;\u00a0the Lord opened her heart to pay attention<br \/>\nto what Paul was saying.<br \/>\nAfter she and her household had been baptized,<br \/>\nshe offered us an invitation,<br \/>\n&#8216;If you consider me a believer in the Lord,<br \/>\ncome and stay at my home,&#8217; &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note that God presents surprises and opportunities, and Paul and his companion are at the ready to respond to what God brings before them.<\/p>\n<p>Their readiness to pursue prayer, and their openness to interact with those they encounter lead to conversion.<\/p>\n<p>God also surprises them with opportunities to meet their earthly needs, of shelter and hospitality.<\/p>\n<h3>LINKS &amp;
