ABC 7 in Los Angeles reports on allegations surrounding the House ethics investigation of Attorney General nominee Matt Gaetz, rendered defunct by his resignation from Congress.
"An attorney representing two women who were witnesses in the House Ethics Committee's investigation into now-former Rep. Matt Gaetz is calling for the release of the committee's report ... [alleging] one of his clients testified that she witnessed the Florida congressman having sex with a minor. ... Gaetz ...has long denied ... wrongdoing, including hav[ing] an inappropriate relationship with a minor. The Justice department declined to charge Gaetz last year after a yearslong investigation ...."
Speaker Mike Johnson warned that it would open a Pandora's Box to break with tradition and start releasings ethics findings about former Congressmen who have left the body.
