Notre Dame Football Has Player Test Positive for Covid-19 Coronavirus, Another Four Positive for Antibodies Indicating Past Infections, Another Four Quarantining Over Contact Tracing

According to multiple reports and a university announcement, one Notre Dame football player has tested positive for Covid-19 coronavirus, after 91 players and 50 staff were tested.

That one infected player apparently does not have symptoms and is being isolated.

An additional four Notre Dame players tested positive for Covid-19-related antibodies, indicating past infection.

Apparently yet another four players were identified by contact tracing as having been near the one currently infected player. Like him, they are asymptomatic, and they are self-quarantining.

Notre Dame began voluntary summer activities Monday. Players are staying in single-occupancy rooms at Notre Dame's Morris Inn as they undertake two phases of summer activities, with medical testing before each phase. Fall semester starts early on Aug. 10.
