"Cities ... increasingly turn[] to streetlights emitting ... 'blue light' ... also common in smartphones, laptops and tablets. ... [A] study hints that excess exposure to blue-spectrum light might raise a person's odds for colon cancer. ... [P]rior studies ... suggested ... blue light ... [from] most white LEDs (light-emitting diodes) and many tablets and phones was linked to ailments such as sleep disorders, obesity and an increased risk of various cancers .... [such as] breast and prostate cancer .... [A Spanish] study [now, whiles not able] to determine ... blue light exposures caused colon cancer... point[ed] at associations. ... [P]eople with the highest exposures to blue light had a 60% higher risk of developing colon cancer compared to those ... less exposed ...."
