“The Solemnity of the #ImmaculateConception of the #BlessedVirginMary … celebrat[ing] the dogma that #Mary was preserved from original sin from the moment of her conception … Dec. 8 … a holy day of obligation on which #Catholics are required to attend #Mass. In 1846 … the U.S. bishops adopted a decree naming Mary, ‘conceived without sin,’ as patroness of the United States. Pope Pius IX approved the choice and placed the United States under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception in 1857.”

and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.” …
… Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
